A nau dos insensatos

Resumo

O depoimento se refere à EMEF Desembargador Amorim Lima, no Butantã, em São Paulo. Foi escrito pelo pai de um dos alunos, e se constitui numa apresentação pessoal sobre essa instituição que tem como referência a Escola da Ponte, em Portugal. Segundo o autor, reformulando profundamente o funcionamento da escola, o novo projeto foi aprovado pela Secretaria Municipal de Educação de São Paulo em 2004. Seus objetivos principais eram proporcionar formação global de todos os envolvidos; construir autonomia moral e intelectual dos estudantes; garantir direitos de educação de qualidade com período completo de aulas; incentivar o compromisso com o conhecimento; estimular e orientar o trabalho em grupos; promover a convivência com responsabilidade; assegurar o respeito aos tempos e processos individuais. Para tanto, esbarrou-se no terreno frágil de algumas utopias: da construção da cidadania; da inclusão; da participação da comunidade; da construção da cidadania por meio da prática democrática; do conhecimento solidário; do advento do Educador Público. Em seu texto, o autor faz alguns destaques, por exemplo: o conselho da escola é de formação paritária – sete representantes dos professores, sete dos pais, sete dos funcionários e sete dos alunos, imprescindível numa construção democrática. O Conselho da escola discute as transformações, bem como, aprova e consolida o PPP (Projeto Político Pedagógico) e o Regulamento Interno. Destaca também o espaço de tutoria como um dos instrumentos fundamentais para o advento do Educador Público integral e do aluno integral – adventos simultâneos e inseparáveis. O autor conclui que, se a metodologia aplicada na escola não é uma garantia, trata-se de uma engenhosa e poderosa contribuição à construção da escola democrática e cidadã que almejamos. Se, como bem sabemos, a distância até ela é ainda bastante longa, pois demos somente umas poucas braçadas, torna-se cada vez mais claro para onde remar.

Abstract

This report deals with EMEF Desembargador Amorim Lima, in the Butantã district of São Paulo. It was written by the father of one of the students and is comprised of a personal introduction to this institution, which is based on Escola da Ponte, in Portugal. According to the author, with the school's workings being profoundly overhauled, the new project was approved by the São Paulo Municipal Secretariat of Education in 2004. Its primary goals were to provide global education to all involved; build students' moral and intellectual autonomy; guarantee the rights to quality education with full-time classes; foster a commitment to knowledge; encourage and guide work in groups; promote responsible coexistence; and assure respect for time and individual processes. In doing this, it struck the delicate ground of a few utopias: construction of citizenship; of inclusion; of community participation; of construction of citizenship through democratic practice; of supportive knowledge; of the advent of the Public Educator. In his text, the author highlights a few items, including: the school board and equal representation – seven teacher, seven parent, seven employee and seven student representatives - which was necessary for democratic construction. The School Board discusses transformations in addition to approving and consolidating the PPP (Political Pedagogical Project) and Internal Regulations. He also highlights the tutoring space as one of the fundamental instruments for the advent of the comprehensive Public Educator and full-time student – simultaneous and inseparable occurrences. The author concludes that, if the methodology applied at the school is no guarantee, it is an ingenious and powerful contribution to building the democratic and civic school that we yearn for. If, as we well know, there is still quite a distance to this school, since we have rowed but a little way, it becomes clearer and clearer where to row to.
