Abstract
Outside assessments show that despite guaranteed access to schooling, there is no guarantee that all will learn. Faced with this situation, the Municipal Secretariat in Limeira, in São Paulo, developed initiatives organized into seven groups: monitoring of learning; continued initial training; expanded service for early childhood education; oversight visits; reporting on successful experiences; organization of the Curricular Reference Plan; parallel recovery; and curricular enrichment. To supplement these policy activities, the Secretariat implemented 47 decentralized classes to serve youth and adult education. Finally, in 2004, the Study Hard Project (Projeto Estudar pra Valer) enriched the methodologies adopted in Portuguese Language, introducing proposals for reading and text production and providing renewed impetus to continue to strive for quality education in the municipality.
