Alagoa Grande, Paraíba. O teatro revelou professores, alunos e cidadãos.

Resumo

O relato descreve a experiência no município de Alagoa Grande, localizado na microrregião serrana de Piemonte da Borborema, no Estado da Paraíba, inscrita no “Programa Melhoria da Educação no Município”. A equipe gestora da educação de Alagoa Grande detectou problemas educacionais que compunham um círculo vicioso: evasão e repetência geravam professores desmotivados, alunos desinteressados e pais distanciados da escola, dentre outros problemas, que, por sua vez, implicavam em maiores evasão e repetência. A fim de intervir nessa realidade, uma das questões necessárias era o estimulo à leitura e à escrita. Por isso, foram abertas as portas do Teatro Santa Ignez para as escolas e comunidade, dando origem a 1ª Mostra Teatral de Alagoa Grande, que contou com o apoio da Secretaria de Transportes, Secretaria da Cultura, Radio Rural Guarabira, Grupo de Teatro Zoar e instituições bancárias e do comercio. O resultado da iniciativa foi a apresentação de 28 peças, tendo como protagonistas crianças e adolescentes da comunidade. O relato destaca que a experiência da cidade deixa uma lição fundamental: na educação, as causas e as soluções dos problemas estão sempre interligados.

Abstract

This report describes the experience in the municipality of Alagoa Grande, located in the mountainous microregion of Piemonte da Borborema, in the state of Paraíba, enrolled in the "Better Municipal Education Program" (Programa Melhoria da Educação no Município). The education management team in Alagoa Grande found educational problems that made up a vicious circle: dropouts and grade repetition created a lack of motivation among teachers, disinterest among students, and parents that kept their distance from the school, among other problems. These problems, in turn, resulted in more dropouts and grade repetition. In order to intervene in this reality, one of the necessary issues was fostering reading and writing. This is why the doors of the Santa Ignez Theater were opened to schools and the community, giving rise to the 1^st Theatrical Show of Alagoa Grande, which relied on support from the Secretariat of Transportation, Secretariat of Culture, Radio Rural Guarabira, the Zoar Theater Group and banking and business institutions. The result of the initiative was performance of 28 plays, all starring children and teens from the community. The report underscores that the city's experience leaves a fundamental lesson: in education, the causes of and solutions to problems are always interconnected.
